Children in Need
Friday 19th November is Children in Need Day. We invite the children to come in wearing something spotty. They will be making spotty Pudsey Masks and making spotty ginger bread men. A box will be left in the foyer for a voluntary donation to this good cause.

Christmas Party
Friday 17th December will be Pre-School’s Christmas party. All children are invited to come. There will be music, food and a visit from Father Christmas! If your child does not usually come on a Friday, please let me know if you would like them to come.

C.h.r.i.s.t.m.a.s Spells Christmas
This years Pre-School Nativity will take place on Wednesday 15th December at 11.30am. There will be a small charge per ticket which will include a drink and a mince pie. The show will be filmed if all agree and you will be able to order a DVD. Please note that we have very young children this year who may get stage fright!

Moving Premises
As you are aware, we will be moving to a new, permanent premises next year, hopefully by the end of January. We have a large cupboard of resources to sort through and are looking for some volunteers to help! During session times is best as the cupboard will already be half empty. We will need to sort through puzzles and resources, throw away anything broken, decide what could be sold at the Bazaar and see what is good enough to take with us. If you can spare a few hours, please let me know!

Parent Meetings
If you would like a meeting with your child’s key carer before the end of this term, please fill in a suitable time slot on the notice board, or email me if you do not regularly come into the setting.

Student Placement / Volunteers
We would like to welcome Vicky Buysman to our team. She is working at Wingrave Pre-School on a student placement, working towards her level 2 Childcare Qualification. Although Vicky has been CRB checked, as a student she will not count in our staff/child ratios, and will always be supervised. Vicky is 18 and will work on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday. We are also pleased to still have Natasha Naisbett (Glen’s grand-daughter) on our team. She completed work experience with us last year and requested to continue volunteering on a Thursday and Friday. Tasha is 16 and therefore too young for a CRB check. She will also always be supervised and not count in our adult/child ratios.

October 2010 Newsletter

Themes
Each month, we will be following a particular theme. During September, we looked at ‘All About Me’ and the children enjoyed activities such as Portrait Puppets and Paper Plate faces.
October saw the children learning about Harvest and Farming, their favourite activities being looking at and feeling lots of different vegetables and slicing vegetables to make a yummy soup. During November, we will be looking at ‘Opposites’. Week 1: Big/small, short/tall. Week 2: Hot/cold, young/old. Week 3: Loud/quiet, hard/soft. Week 4: Rough/smooth, light/dark. Please encourage your child to bring anything in from home that may help with this theme. The theme for December will be Winter.

Warm Clothes, Wellies and Raincoats
A key commitment of the Early Years Foundation Stage is that we provide an interesting and challenging environment for the children both indoor and out, and spend time outside everyday. We endeavour to go outside everyday, providing either a range of activities in the outside area of the Centre, and/or by taking the children to the park or a walk around the recreation ground. To enable your child to take part in all these activities, please can you provide a raincoat and some wellington boots. Many thanks for your co-operation.

Lunch Club
We are now offering lunch club every day for ALL children. £3.50 per session invoiced in ar- rears. Please speak to me to book a place or simply bring their lunch box in the morning!
